Bubba Gump @ Sunway Pyramid

Bubba Gump restaurant is inspired by the 1994 movie "Forrest Gump" which offers feel down-home American southern charm and amusing dining experience.

Having vague memory of this movie, I till now only remember the most famous quote of of this movie being "my mama always say that Life is like a box of chocolate. You never know what you're gonna get". Yes, I agree that this is how we should face life, always so full of surprises, and to take things as it comes.

I just love Bubba Gump's logo - cutie shrimp. Met up with Sharon for a small celebration 3 Fridays ago.

Being skeptical on how much we will be paid attention should we require one, as we are depending on this signs that are available on each table - flip to STOP if you need attention, and to RUN if everything is good. However, the crew at Bubba Gump has proven that it works, as within secs of flipping to STOP, we are being attended to. *<>*

I ordered the Blueberry Smoothie which is a concoction of blueberries, strawberries and non-fat vanilla frozen yoghurt, while Sharon had the Jenny's Favorite, a concoction of strawberries, cranberry juice and non-fat raspberry frozen yoghurt. Both tasted good, however felt the Blueberry Smoothie is s alittle too sweet.

The appetiser we ordered was the shrimp and fish with golden corn, deep fried and served with Remoulade dippin sauce. I felt this was a little dry, and somehow didn't like this very much.

The other dish that we ordered was the charbroiled cajun spiced Baramundi with bourbon street sauce and shrimp, served over mashed potato. Love the fish and the sauce.

It was through MSN, 'Hi babe', replied with 'Hi Ms SK, planning to ask me out?' replied with 'Yes, let's meet', which took us both to Pyramid last night. Hassle-free. LOL. Decided to meet at Pyramid, and since we have both been to Bubba Gump and liked it, we didn't mind having that again, so that we could try out its other offerings.

For drinks, she ordered the Speckled Strawberry, lemonade drink, whilst I opted for Blueberry Smoothie, the blueberry, strawberry with vanilla frozen yoghurt.

For the night, we order 2 appetizers to satisfy our taste bud. As we were both prawn lovers, we opted for the 'Shrimper Catch-3', size of the 3/4 pound. We had the option of either cajun spice or garlic, or both. Went for both. Both of us truly love this. The portion with cajun sauce was oily, but minus that, it was lovely. The garlic was the more preferred option, as it has the strong garlicy taste, with slight saltiness. Nice. Plus most important of all, the prawns were fresh, and the reasonable portion of prawns for the price.

Shrimper Catch-3 : 1/2 cajun, 1/2 garlic. Price-RM27.90

The other recommended item was the 'Run Across America Sampler' which combines the Nachos, which was plain and healthy, thus not too tasty, Chilly Shrimp, which was plain prawns to be dipped with chilli sauce, Hush Pups, which was the creamy bake cheese which has some vege in it, and was pretty tasty, spicy Chicken strips, which has a strong sauce with it, however, found it too salty, and Fried Shrimp which was well coated with batter, and fried. Nice. However from the overall that we tried from the sampler, we love the fried prawns and the hush pups. The rest, so so only.

I think that I found rather 'amazing' was that the staffs here were rather anxious to clear our plates, before we were done. After being asked the 5th time from different staff on the floor, I just had to say 'yes , please clear'. Was it us that ate too slow, or we were not supposed to be chatting through before finishing all our food. ^-^

We were really full, but still decided to order their Bread Pudding. The bread has a strong cinammon taste, accompanied by vanilla ice-cream and whipped cream. Though its not a dessert to die for, the overall taste was alright. And felt the price is rather reasonable.

We had a great time catching up, and glad that this sweet friend of mine share my love for taking self-portraits. ^-^

Bubba Gump @ The Curve

Where else to go when you feel like being overloaded with prawns? I just had craving for Bubba Gump's prawns, and few days later, Jo suggested to meet up here. Just in time!

She bought this hot deal from mydeal.com.my. How cool is that, where mydeal will have new hot deal with different merchants, offering discount between 50%-90%. Once the minimum number of buyers for certain deal is reached, the deal is "on"... Do visit the site to check out the fantastic deals.
This deal that Jo got was the Shrimp Feast @ 50% off. With the price of RM43.35 nett (instead of RM86.70), we get a drink, big portion of shrimp, and a chocolate chip sundae cookies as dessert.

So we were served the 1 pound 'Shrimper Catch-3', with the option of cajun spice and garlic. Of the 2, I prefer the garlic option, as I liked the slight saltiness that came with this. We were peeling lots of prawns the other night.

For dessert, we had chocolate chip sundae cookie which was really huge, at least for the 2 of us. It had scoops of vanilla ice-cream, cream, topped with loads of crunchy peanuts, and the chocolate chip cookie as the base (needless to say, it is of the same size of the pan). Quite a refreshing way to have chocolate chip cookies. Overall, I liked this dessert..

Jo & I usually hang out with the company of the rest of the gang. So it was quite a nice change, for a 1 to 1 dinner session.
